The Interclub Tournament is a squash tournament held between 4 clubs: Cynergi Health & Fitness Club, LivingWell Health Club, Marsa Sports Club and the Malta Union Club. Each team is composed of 7 ranked players: 2 advanced players, 2 intermediate level players and 3 less experienced players. The challenge consists of a total of 8 events over 2 rounds between October and May. During each event all 4 teams will take part and play each other. Each encounter between 2 teams will consist of 7 matches between the players of equivalent ranking. The following are the dates for this year’s challenge events:

The first event of the Club Challenge Trophy of this season was held on the 29th October at the Hilton Living Well Club who are the holders of the title from last year. We welcome the new team Malta Union Club who are taking part for the first time, together with Marsa Sports Club and Cynergi.
All four teams played each other. Our team, which is being coordinated by Robert Sultana, did really well on their first outing winning three out of three encounters with the other teams.
Each team is composed of seven players and the following was our team line-up for this first event:

Every encounter between each team consists of 7 matches between the players of equivalent ranking. All matches are being played best of 3 games. A 2-0 win garners 3 points for the winning team whereas a 2-1 match result awards 3 points to the winning team and 1 point to the losing player’s team.
The MSC team started very well by beating the hosts Living Well 12-10 points. It was an even closer affair against Cynergi with MSC only edging them out 13 points to 12. Our last opponent was the Malta Union Club. Again our team came out of top 12-10.

In the end it was MSC and Cynergi who finished with equal points on top, following closely by the Union Club. The current standings after the first event are:

The next event is scheduled for the 12th November at the Malta Union Club. Matches will start at 13:00.
